Old thread I know. But I wanted to share mine. I didn't want to go with the TRD knob and boot cause I'd seen it a couple times. I liked the look of the red and black though and it goes with my color scheme. So I decided to go with the Bride- boot and carbon fiber knob.

Did you do any trimming of the factory shift slots, or plastic on the factory bezel, or did you just slide the boot under the plastic??
    Thanks in advance..

Hey I didn't do any trimming at all. I wanted to be able to go back to factory if I ever wanted to. Also trimmimg the shift slots is not necessary. The boot doesn't get hung up at any point. So I just slid the boot under the trim. I also cut a coat hanger and roughly bent it to the shape of the shifter pattern. Basically just a rectangle. I sewed that into the bottom of the boot so that it would hold its a shape a little better. By not trimming anything away i have a small gap between the upper and lower trim where the shift indicator is. You can kind of see what I mean in the first pic. That doesn't bother me and I can live with it, if it means everything is still factory. I might have pics of the boot before Installed so you can see what I mean about the coat hanger. I'll check for them.

Old thread I know. How are you guys keeping the boot in place? I just got mine in today but I wish the OP posted pics of the “hanger” part he mentioned, and how are y’all keeping the boot away from the lettering?

FWIW, all knobs are interchangeable between Toyotas. IE - you could use a knob from a Corolla if you wanted to.

nschmittsd - i like this mod, nice result and it keeps coins from falling in the cracks around the shifter! I have a question - how is the shifter cover removed? from your pics it looks like there are 4 or 6 fastener tabs holding it in. Have you found any directions for how to remove without breaking the fasteners, etc?
    Thanks for sharing your mod.
