    Never understood this item for 2nd gen, I just hang the little plastic stringer that holds the cap on the latching clip, the stringer is flexible in the correct spot just for this purpose.

    I don't have a Gasshole myself, but I do have a locking gas cap that has no lanyard. I simply place my gas cap on my toneau cover when I'm filling up, but I can see the use of these mods for some people.
