Hello everybody. I have a 2014 Tacoma with the 4.0 V6 4x4. I recently installed a pedal commander and a k&n intake. After driving for 100 miles or so I didn't like the way the truck drove. I took the pedal commander off first. Nothing changed. Then I took the intake off and put the factory one on but still something seems off. The shifting seems weird. The truck shifting seems a little off, I hope I didn't hurt anything. I've driven the truck for a couple days now but nothing seems better. Also it seems like when I press the gas pedal I get a good amount of feedback, rpms instantly drop before shooting back up. Truck has 19,000 original miles. Any suggestions or ideas as to what I could be experiencing. Any help is much appreciated thank you all in advance

You may need to do a battery disconnect to reset any learned values that could have gotten out of whack with the aftermarket stuff installed.

^Disconnect the battery and leave the OEM intake on. Pedal commander should be ok.

Thank you guys for your reply. I did disconnect the battery to try to reset the ecu. Also put both terminals together. Is that the right measure to take to reset it? Or is it different with newer vehicles? Also how many miles will it take for it to go back to normal its been over 100

The pedal commander can't hurt my truck right? I only had it on for 3 days and then took it off but I'll be honestly I sorta beat on my truck within those 3 days LOL I kinda regret it but thought it would be fine

Disconnecting the battery for a few min is sufficent to clear most of the adaptives, it should have relearned most things after 100mi.
Next thing I'd reccomend since you say your having shifting issues is to check your transmission fluid level, see the thread below for the proper procedure.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-to-drain-refill-automatic-transmission.63851/

It shouldn't, all it does is intercept the signal from the acelerator pedal position sensor and modifies it so that the PCM sees more or less pedal input (depending on the setting) than the actual position of the pedal.

When you installed the pedal commander, was the battery disconnected.
I ask because, like others said, it clears learned data. So it needs to relearn.
My 07’ doesn’t seem have a drastic “relearn” process like the 13’ model truck I put a battery in.
I think the later model trucks don’t tolerate “changes” as well. It takes them time to learn.

ah ok thank you for that insight. No the battery wasn't disconnected when I installed or removed it. Hopefully it'll relearn everything soon but there's no way that the pedal commander could've hurt it right? Sorry for being paranoid I just bought the truck a month ago

No, the pedal commander didn’t hurt it.
If it did, you have a check engine light or something.

I think you need to drive it for a week and come back and tell us how it runs. I bet it will be just fine.

It probably in your head man. I get that way sometimes myself. You’ll be fine.

I don't think so, you would have codes if there was a problem with the throttle system.
I would still reccomend checking the transmission fluid, it's good practice to do anyway since there's no dipstick to check it.

I had a PC for about a year and really liked it, but then I started getting P2121 code intermittently (problem with the accelerator pedal position, or APP, sensor). I turned off the PC, but still would get the error. I finally removed it and haven't had a problem since (12 mos.)
