It's time for new tires on my 2013 Tacoma and I see there are a lot of 3rd gen TRD wheels/tires(Aluminum/Wrangler Kevlar) for sale on craigslist with low miles and at a reasonable price. My truck currently has the base steel wheels w/ 245/75R16 tires. The new tires/wheels are 265/65R16 which from my understanding is a tire that is both wider and shorter. Are there any issues that I should be aware of with the new wheels and tires that would prevent/limit their use on my truck?

Lastly, I understand the tire pressure sensors are different for the aluminum wheels. Would the pressure sensors for the new wheels need to be spec'd for the 2nd or 3rd gen Tacoma.

Thank you in advance for your help!

The new wheels should work with no problems. Your existing 75 series tire should be pretty close to the height of the 65 series tire. I was able to pull the TPMS from the steel wheels and use them on the aluminum wheel. You have to turn them 180 degrees, but the Firestone store that did mine knew exactly what to do. 2 years later, no problems.

Use the tire calculator and you'll see the new ones would be about 1" less in diameter.

Not really. There are a couple of threads on here with great pics of folks who've already added these wheels to their 2nd gens.

    Yes.

2nd, because the brain and display funtions changed in the 3rd gen.

However, as @BKill mentioned above, it's possible that the old ones might be able to fit, assuming you have a tire guy willing to at least experiment for you. Big box stores are unlikely to, but a local shop might. Got a good independent mechanic with a tire machine?

Pretty sure the TRD Off road comes with 265/70/16 not 65, on the third gens.

Put 3rd gen TRD OR 16s on mine , I think they look great , and got them for cheaper than a new set of rubber would have been on those God awful 17" trd sport factorys , bought this truck and those wheels were gone in the first week
