I think the only times I have seen posts of people who needed to change the original water pump are from those that live in the rust belt or those who live near salt water. Those that don't are the only ones that haven't changed it.

2008 210,000 miles original water pump. I have changed the coolant 3 times and I am in my second radiator.

Did any of y'all use the water pump gasket, or did you use rtv, gasket maker, or similar?

Always use the gasket if one is available, rtv is messy and looks backyard

Use the gasket, no RTV needed.

I have 155K still good - hope I'm not jinxing myself by posting this. My brother-in-law got 255K on his B 4 he had to change it.
Just thought I'd add a reply to the OP - The Stealership is just trying to add to their bottom line as always.

I have a 2005 Tacoma with 355,000 miles with original water pump, thermostat, hoses, radiator, etc.

I'm contemplating if I should replace the water pump and thermostat. So far I haven't heard any abnormal noise from the truck. Any suggestions?

I’d replace the hoses and maybe the thermostat. I’d let the rest be.

Basics. Tires, painted headlighes, UHLM, baby winch in the bed, and heated mirrors :)
I recently replaced my water pump at ~180k because it was making an ungodly noise, or so I thought. No puking through the weep hole but upon removal there was a tiny bit of play in the shaft.

Got it all back together, noise was still there. Turns out the fan clutch was entirely buggered and the vibrations were taking out the pump. Replaced that (MUCH easier job) everything was all better. Original WP was probably still okay, but glad I replaced it as I'm sure its life was significantly shortened.

Same boat but with 286k. No noises or issues overheating. I’m just gonna let it ride for now.

    Too few to list.
220K in 2010 4Runner and still good. Thinking about just doing a radiator coolant drain and fill but now contemplating in replacing pump/thermostat and hoses just as preventative maintenance. Either that or just leaving it alone because i’ve seen what’s inside a radiator at 200K miles but that was on a Chevy.

2005 all original. The only thing I’ve considered is replacing the radiator, thermostat and associated hoses because I don’t want to be stuck on the side of the road somewhere. 148k
