a good idea overall, but people should be able to see the flag. in fairness a person should know if they've been flagged so they have the opportunity to clear their name in case it was all a misunderstanding

 

This. What good is ostracizing someone for a sale; lets say I get drunk one night and put up my s/c for sale, next morning I find I made a deal with someone, back out then I get "flagged" for being a drunk idiot. It's easier on everyone to just ban the incompetent DBs who try to scam others or can't carry their word.

 

This site is pretty chill on moderation. But screwing people around on business, time, and money, then being a dick about it after being called to task. Should be permaban. Don't fuck around. Not a good person, not a good member. Go play on craigslist and GTFO.

Further, yet another case for why new members should not be allowed to post anything for sale until they've done some time here or at least jumped through some hoops, like 50 posts minimum. This is not just a focused subset market of craigslist.

 

I don't disagree, but there are always 2 sides to a story as we all know. the accused d-bag should be able to plead their case and present extenuating circumstantial evidence during their court marshal
due process:
act of d-baggery occurs
1 - instant timeout
2 - cases are presented to powers that be
3 - found guilty? INSTANT PERMABAN and a lifetime of shame

 

I feel like banning just results in them making a new account under a different name... However flagging them would just give potential buyers a heads up

 

Mods are pretty good at detecting that.

 

Probably more so at people selling things but still

 

They'd still be selling the same thing? Mods will catch the resemblance or someone will point it out. Plus a new account with 1 post selling the same item is a flag within itself.
