That's true. I've heard tell of that being a fairly common issue. (Knock on wood) It hasn't happened to me yet. It was was a super easy install and I've had mine in for over a year and a half now and they've held up so far. Definitely not recommended for going incognito though. :p

I'm not a huge fan of the chrome on them. But I like the fact that they should never burn out. Plus supposedly they help prevent rear end collisions. That like millisecond quicker light up, is supposed to trigger the brains breaking response quicker for the driver behind you. I read a couple articles about it.

Some people run bolts through them and add extra d-rings at the same time.

Get something that locks it all up back there, like an Undercover lid. Lotsa expensive little pieces can walk away with it wide open... :(

Get a camera or at least a fake camera, and a little sticker saying smile you're on camera!

Doesn't actually glow, but believe me it stands out. I have one interior light bulb and it really helps! Some of the Alibaba sites had a florescent color, but I wasn't sure if they would have fit the Tacoma. As far as why Toyota doesn't have it standard, it's just greed. If you want it you're going to have to pay extra for it. I remember buying a new 69 Toyota Corolla, just under $2,000. Came with a pint of touch-up paint and the radio was extra! Now they come with power steering, anti-locking brakes, am/fm CD radio, carpeting, and a/c!

Wonder how difficult it would be to find a led or ccfl halo that would fit and easily be wired up to do the exact same thing? I'm sure that if some one could figure this out they would be pretty popular on this site as well as other Toyota forums.

Found this on you tube, if I was handy enough (not lazy) I've would have tried this. Wonder if you can put a LED bulb inside the key hole? https://youtu.be/3ZNCEQza8YU

False, I poked 2 holes in mine, removed my front and rear bed bolts holding the bed to the frame, and ran the bolts through the bed mat then bolted back to the frame. Keeps the bed mat secure, its made of recycled tire, how could it be too soft...?...

Problem with your method is the bed bolts aren't torqued properly. But hey it's your bed to crack the shit out of.:sandwich:
