I didn’t realize there was even a way to convert a 2nd gen into a 3rd. I was under the impression you could only do an 05-11 to a 12-15 . Has anyone done the 3rd gen conversion?

There is a video on YouTube about a supercharged 2nd gen. In the video they show the supercharger on a 2nd gen with a 3rd gen front end. They said they are working on a video to show the conversion. Adventure motors is the YouTube channel.

what if someone wanted to convert a 3rd gen front to a 2nd gen front ? Would I have to just buy 2nd parts and everything would bolt right in?

@Sin city tacoma. I am in Vegas as well. If youre interested in finding out, we can try to swap some parts and see. LMK

i dont see why it couldnt. Just need a bit of ingenuity and elbow grease. im willing to bet that the beds are direct bolt on. I'm looking to either buy a 3rd gen bed or tailor my own fiberglass (6ft bed). As for the front, i know youre going to need brackets, a hood latch, hood, etc. but it looks like toyota used the same body with a few different mounting points. a grinder and maybe a few homemade brackets should take care of it relatively easily. I've never done it though so this is all just what i THINK. I dont see why it couldnt be done

All I can say is, if you body swap to a 3rd Gen. I just want a link to the post where you take pictures with the hood open. If for no other reason than to read all the bickering over what engine is better.

I saw one in real life a month or so ago when driving through the Spokane area. Couldn’t take a pic since I was driving.

    Dcsb 040

Whole front clip was fully swaped including fenders and hood.

The other 2/3rds of the truck was still in 2nd gen attire.

Gonna guess they were still in the experiment stage since they had a neon orange ratchet strap running from the passenger side fender over the hood to the driver side fender. Assuming to hold it together.
