2nd Gen. to get Remote Reservoir shocks or not?

    The title says it all. My understanding is that the remote reservoir simply adds more fluid to aid in keeping the shocks functioning cool while in operation. I don't do any high speed offroading, would it simply be wiser/cost effective for me to purchase the standard Icon VS 2.0 shocks without the reservoir? All I do is mild offroading and some mud riding, and because of work it is very seldom that I am able to do this.

    Now more specifically, I intend to replace my worn out Bilstien rear shocks and lift blocks with Wheeler's multi leaf add a leaf progressive pack (maybe the HD pack,) but I was trying to determine if I should use the 2.0 standard shock or the Remote Resi shocks.

    Any input on experience with the Add a Leaf packs would be appreciated as well as input on the shock options. I don't really see the need for the 2.5 shocks but I'm willing to learn if I have misinterpreted their application.

    Yep. And if you wheel hard enough to benefit from remote reservoirs, consider stepping up to the VS 2.5 shocks.

    ^ That's kind of where I'm at with it. I don't really need to spend that extra bit of money on something that I will never really use.

    It seems like you'd really have to drive the hell out of a truck, say 70mph across the desert for miles, to really need remote reservoir shocks. They do look pretty cool though.

    Tacobrah: that's kind of what I was wondering, but based on what I think I know about them, I certainly don't qualify. But I was hoping for some reassurance. The remote resi is intended to supply the shock with additional fluid to lesson the amount of heat the shock experiences when under heavy use. Such as whoops in the desert or at the least high speed driving offroad. Anything causing the shock to compress/decompress rapidly.

    And as for as I know the 2.5 version is simply a larger diameter shock supplying that much more fluid for more dampening. Simply increasing the volume of fluid.
    That is just my take on the subject.

    Now I am making some assumptions here, first off that my understanding is correct, and that the 2.0 shock I intend to use is actually long enough for the lift that I have.

    The only other thing I question is which add a leaf pack would best suit my truck.
    The standard or the HD?

    That's why I was hoping people with these shocks and leaf packs would chime in.

    I have the wheelers HD 3 leaf, with the Icon 2.0

    Its a nice ride, definitely stiffer than stock but not too stiff. Handles weight pretty good. Ive loaded 500-600 lbs in the bed and had no problems.
