Most people use bedliners or bed mats so I think the aluminum would be fine.

    this.

If i was to go full size... it would be the 5.0L v8 ... not sold on the ecoboost, and everyone who i know who has one says they dont get much if any better than the mileage numbers of the v8

I like a few of the features the Ford has over the Tundra. I wish Toyota still offered the Rock Warrior package. But I think the Tundra looks better.

I know the F150 is newer and has more amenities but I know from friends and other things that Tundra 5.7 is almost bulletproof. I googled Tundra problems and they were few and far between.

I used to have a 2012 F-150 with the 5.0 and 3.73 rear end and it was a badass truck. Towing wise there's only a ~1,000 pound difference between the two trucks. Ecoboost does have the "limp mode" as well. I've looked at Tundras more lately and I really like them as well. Your two choices would be my two choices if I were to go back up to full size. Good luck with the search

If I was in the market for a new 1/2 ton I would get a F150, loved my 2011 ecoboost, it was the smoothest ride I'd even had. The 28 mpg on the highway was nice to. Chevy? the ones that ride like a covered wagon?

F150 all day, with the 5.0 coyote only imo. Best truck on the market. I won't even consider a 3rd gen taco (they are pure crap from what I read on their forum) and the tundras have the worst mpgs out of all the full size. As far as GM goes they are to expensive, the ford can be had for much less. If you are going for a full size for space, the f150 has the largest cab as well.

Thought I'd let you know, I will be making this switch within a few weeks due to family size increasing. I've test driven all the full size and the F150 is the best bang for your buck.

F150 V8 ... that is until Toyota actually gets their shit together and redesigns the Tundra ( granted the currrent gen Tundray is a great truck, but the domestics have it beat)

I have had two F150s. They both was great trucks, had a 4.6 and the 5.4 (cant remember the other size. But it was the bigger motor one.)
The 5.4 was great. Not sure if you tow anything but I towed a lot with that truck. Towed a car from cali to Vegas and didn't even fill like i had a trailer and car. Was doing 80 85 the whole way. But I just like Toyotas better. Both my F150s had problems. But so did my Taco when i bought it. All trucks do. I had a Ford Aerostar XLT in high school and i drove that thing to hell and back TWICE and it still ran. Finally dead when a chick t-boned me and bent it in half. I am going to get a tundra after this is payed off but remember to take what you read on here with a grain of salt. Best thing is to drive both and see what one you like better. But Yes Tundras do have less probelms. But if you buy a used one. Even a year old, you dont know what was done in that year and could be getting a crap truck. We had a Trundra that was two years old with almost 100,000 miles on it. They sold it for 19,999.

Id actually be scared to buy the resigned Tundra after all of the problems the "redesigned" Tacoma is having.

Absolutely, the 5.0 is plenty power with better mpgs then my Tacoma. The interior is so nice and packed with features and the ride is like butter. The 5.0 on the f150 and mustang is one of the best motors in a long time.

The ecoboost is nice but other then my 2 tacomas I've always had a turbo car and they inherently have more problems then NA applications. I just want a reliable ride without extra maintenance.

Are you getting the 6.5ft bed, F150s look weird with the tiny 5.5.

See, this is things I want to know. A short test drive is impossible to gauge things like that.

The tundra does not get 20mpgs, I drive my fathers f150 all the time. It's a gem for fuel consumptio. It stays around 18 mpg in the city and 20ish on the highway around 65mph

Whatever I get the best deal on really. I would only throw kayaks and paddle boards in the back outside of stuff from lowes and my bunker gear

The f150 is more quiet from my own comparisons and the interior feels much more up to date if that makes any sense. They also give you so many features that you actually have to pay for with other brands
