I just ordered the 3rd gen TRD Pro skid plate (PTR6035160) for my 2007 TRD Sport 4x4. I will post pics once I receive it and can confirm that it also fits 2nd gen. From looking at aftermarket skid pics, it looks like it should fit and still facilitate oil changes without removal. I also read in another TW thread that mobtown says their 2nd/3rd gen plates are interchangeable. A lot of people seem to think that the aftermarket skids are better, for similar pricing, but my comparison shopping landed the OEM plate at $405 shipped; whereas most comparable aftermarket plates were north of that.

How is 3/16" steel comparable to 1/4" aluminum (which you also offer, lol)?

Ah, my bad. Well our 1/4 AL without reinforcements (which is comparable to the skid you purchased) with powder coat is $360. With reinforcements it's $435, but you are getting a lot more coverage under the truck with ours.

No doubt you guys make a solid product. I'll definitely be upgrading my tailgate with mobtown reinforcements in the near future

ARE YOU INSANE! hit a goid rock nn I know it will happen watch the 1/4 inch aluminum rip. I would pick the 3/16 steel slammed many rocks on my other trucks, saw aluminum ones on a s10 it ripped n destroyed the oil pan. Likely mn goforce has a guy with an offroad wrecker (broke stuck fucker towing) towed him to camp just had to let him put it on youtube.

The eagle, globe, and anchor explains all :crapstorm: My truck is mainly for hauling stuff related to house projects, it will eventually tow something and see light off-road use, but mostly it helps reduce the miles on my M3.

I have an OEM Toyota aluminum skid plate I will be selling next week. I ordered a new bumper and I’m pretty sure it’s not compatible. Anyone verify this. The new bumper is Pelfreybilt.

I can confirm the TRD PRO skid fits 2nd gen perfectly. Installed on my 2012 Baja.

Planning on adding RCI transmission skid. Looks like mating these two should not be a problem.

The difference is the 2nd gen plate is aluminum foil basically, completely useless. 3rd gen TRD plate is 1/4 inch solid aluminum, actually functional (for what it is). Actually I chose it over aftermarket offerings due to fit/price/ascetics. I like how it mounts compared e.g. to RCI front plate.
