Hey 1st gens, not sure if this is allowed or not, delete if not. However, looking to get an idea of what I can get for my 2 gen black TRD supercharger. Not sure of the mileage but everything is very clean, pulley in the snout feels very smooth and tight with no major play.

I'm not hard up for money and don't need to sell it, but I'd like to get some maintenance issues taken care of and pocket the extra. I sold the first 2nd gen supercharger I had a few years back for $3200 for complete kit with Urd 7th injector kit. This kit will not come with the URD kit, but for the right price I can include the TRD intake as well. Not sure of exact worth in today's market, so figured I'd ask. Any research is pulling up minimal info on sales as well. Anyway thanks in advance!

I think I recall a member posting they got one off feeBay for something like $12-1400. Don't recall which gen though, if that matters.

Edit: I've been reading a lot of old threads, so it could have happened several years ago.

I gave 1500 for mine a couple of months ago, no trd intake though. There is currently a guy selling one on here with urd kit, pulleys, headers and a bunch of spare parts for 3800

$3200 would be hard to get today, maybe during the time the were not being produced you could have gotten that. However magnuson now produces the exact same supercharger just minus the TRD emblem on it for just $2950. So it would be hard to sell something for more than new. Like others have said, a used supercharger i think would fetch around $1500.

All depends on how many miles are on it, at 150,000 miles it will need a complete rebuild
for 1000 dollars or so, buying any charger with not knowing miles has to be cheap because a rebuild
could be right around the corner unless you are the original owner with more info

^this is the reply that I keep getting. What I'm curious about is supply and demand. The trd supercharger was designed by Toyota, correct me if I'm wrong. Magnuson only produced them for Toyota and supplied the dealers? If that's the case, wouldn't the magnuson be a replica? Is this a question of replica to authentic? Only curious. At $1500 this charger will stay on the truck, but I do appreciate the time you guys took to reply. With the info being so scarce, just hard to find fact from opinion. Hence the reason of the post. Either way, appreciate the insight!

Incorrect; Magnuson designed it for Toyota. Therefor Magnuson owns the patent for the supercharger. Toyota owns the Copyright for "TRD" stamp on the supercharger, hence why Magnuson doesn't stamp them anymore.

You can buy a new one with zero miles and a warranty for 2800 and change, how much do you think its worth as used with unknown miles? It's obvious you think it worth more than 1500 with unknown miles, so I think you are answering your own question about what its worth, I've seen a few NEW ones on eBay sell for 2500.00 over the year

That's where my info has a discrepancy. From what I read (could be wrong), Toyota R&R this supercharger and magnuson built it. Toyota wanted no part of the added performance feature so the released all rights to Magnuson. This is just what I've gathered, although, it sounds incorrect. Thank you for clearing that up. I'm still infatuated with the whole story on them. I think that's why it interests me. Either way, glad I'm receiving more info on them, thanks again you guys!

Yours was made by the Toyota Dwarven R & D team out of mythril so it's definitely worth way more than the cheap Magnuson replicas. Probably get $15,000 for it.

Now we are talkin!! I figured I'd get one fun response! On an honest note though, just hearing that it's worth considerably less than I'd like, it's probably time to add fuel and tune. Bitter sweet but I'll have some fun with it anyway. Any SC's in here with fuel enhancements? Prefer more than just the 7th injector, but open for ideas.

If you go and get rid of the supercharger after having one you probably wound NOT be happy anymore with the performance of the truck anyway,
On eBay some just sold, one for 1500, one for 2200 with 36,000 miles, another rebuilt with 3,000 miles sold for 2100.00
So your looking at 1500 or so with not knowing miles and depending on added parts needed, or wait for a completely rebuilt one on eBay for 2200 that will come up,
eBay and PayPal fees are 15 percent
So that's 225 for just fees
I bought mine new, but If I had to buy one again I would figure 1000 for a new rebuild service and the asking price for my decision and if it included all the extra hardware needed

Used to be you could sell the TRD superchargers for a premium here in California because the TRD ones were the only ones that were CARB certified (smog legal here in CA), but now I'm fairly certain that Magnuson finally got their's CARB approved. They were "pending" for years but I think it finally went through recently.

I'd say somewhere in the ballpark of $1200 sounds about right for a clean used one with unknown mileage, maybe $1500 if you find the right buyer.

Im pretty sure the only SC that magnuson has gone through CARB certification for is the 4.0L, they may be working on it for ours but it might not be economically viable considering fewer of these engines are around every year.

So OP, maybe see if there's any interest in the Cali threads?

Yeah I may be thinking of the 4.0l one...well in that case then yeah, I'd push that thing on the California market where you'll get the most $$$ for it.

So some added info also is the grey supercharged is EGR compatible and I don't believe the black ones are, I have an EGR system and I don't believe the black units will work on any 3,4 v6 that have an EGR system.

Yeah they have an EGR port, that's where the 7th injector plugs in.

Yup, there's an EGR port. It's capped unless it's being used, I know because mine came uncapped and threw a P0171 code that took forever to narrow down lol.

Since we are on superchargers, here is a new one for me this week, I have a 2.1 URD pulley and have been having premature nose bearing seal leaking,50,000 miles and premature pulley wear. Two of My 2.1 pulley both wearing in the center cutting through the red iodized protective coating .
Talked extensively to my rebuilder and he says the pulley is wearing in the center because the URD pulley is a soft metal and then starts slipping because it's loosing surface contact And riding on the ears of the pulley and because aluminum is a conductor of heat it is transferring that heat to the nose seal. So heads up if you have one of the aftermarket pulleys made of alloy not steel, keep an eye on the wear of the center of the pulley, check it with a micromtor with the belt off or if your nose seal is leaking , I've decided to get a steel 2.1 Pulley to replace the alloy one as it will not wear out like aluminum and will not be a big transfer of heat to the nose and an updated nose seal that can handle higher temperatures

Good to know, I'm about to put a 2.2" pulley on. Guess I'll keep the stock one around just in case. Where are you getting a steel pulley from?
