I was lucky enough to buy three domes and one map on three separate occasions (one set for me and two for two of my older bros). My dad just picked up a 2nd gen Tacoma a few months ago and if these ever come into production again I'm buying! They're pretty dang bright and I find myself rarely using the maps.

@outxider which alternative option did you move on to if there is one. I know TacomaBeast makes them for 3rd gens but curious if there's another option.

 

Just LED boards and bulbs. They work fine for me and a fraction of the price. I'm happy with it. I really want the Molle overhead rack but i don't see that ever coming back. TacomaBeast can go suck it.

 

Gotcha on the boards and bulb! I may go that route for my dads truck if he keeps asking me about them. And I agree with TacomaBeast comment. No personal experience but I've read about his story at a national park and product quality. My brother in law found his headlights for my dad and I told them "no" immediately.

Yeah guys..no excuse for lack of updates here. Domes in general(3rd gen, 2nd gen, etc) have been one of the longest projects I have been working on. I've gone through many versions, testing, re-deisgn, etc. I want them done just as bad as you. For people that can't wait..I totally get it. There are many alternatives on the market for dome light LEDS, so no hard feelings if you find something else. Although, I can confirm 100% that these are finally in production and on the home stretch. The plastic housings have been injected molded, and the LED boards/circuity are getting produced right now.(I have 5,000 getting made). I've put a lot of time and effort into this new design and I hope everyone that stayed with me during this development will be rewarded with the best light on the market.

 

I'm holding out as long as I can for these, the red domes I got before aren't fitting properly, and seem to have connection issues... they don't turn on all the time. I'm hoping the new ones will solve those problems.

But I can't wait forever... having a more concrete timeline would definitely be helpful.

I noticed one section of 4 leds on my dome light are out completely. They are red. I will try to get you a picture and PM you soon.

 

What connection issues are you experiencing that they don’t turn on all the time? I’m just asking to see if you’re having the same problem as me. The connection issues I’m experiencing is when I block my truck or take my key out of the ignition after driving it the dome light doesn’t come on as it should. It come on sometimes but more often than not they don’t turn on when unlocking the truck. But if I use the switch to turn them on if I’m looking for something in the dark they always come on. Let me know what your experiencing

 

it seems intermittent, but it sometimes doesn't turn on with the door switch. if I press it back into place it turns on. I haven't given it much more troubleshooting than that though. it happens both after driving, and when I open the door getting into the truck.

These festoon adapters are literally just the piece of wire wedged against the metal “hat” or whatever you wanna call it on either end of the spring that then makes contact with the OEM socket ends. You might need to make sure the wire ends wedged into the cap are making good contact. Maybe even just even need to solder it with a small dab to the hat. One of my wires basically slipped out during a reinstall and was intermittent like that.
