I removed mine

 

Not necessary, but if left in just make sure you tuck the wiring up in the hole well. I recommend removing it as it is not need with my design and frees up some space inside.

 

I almost removed mine, BUT I'm ocd about being able to return to OEM. LOL.

 

Removed mine as I had trouble with install initially. Once I took it out it was a piece of cake. Looks easy enough to put back in if wanting to return to OEM someday.

 

USPS delivered mine on Sunday! Got em installed last night. No pics but they look like everyone else's Thanks @mesojdm !

 

@mesojdm do we have an eta on white dome and maps?

I'm still following this thread even though I have finally gotten both the dual maps and the dome. You just never know when @mesojdm is gonna come up with something a little different. Exactly what model printer are you using? I'm a hobbyist when it comes to 3d printing and am flabbergasted by the quality.

 

Up until now I wasn’t sure why I still follow this thread, but you never know what the next epic meso product will be!

Well.. it looks like you have found your soul mate. I try and get them paired up, but there is always room for a mistake when staring at “L” and “R”’s for so long.

I had a little trouble getting them to operate smoothly. They bind a little, and I accidentally broke one of the outer pins on my truck (not the hinge) because I pushed it too hard.

Sorry for not reading the entire thread, but was there a fix besides emory cloth? Either way, the output is really nice. I'm definitely going to get the dome when it's back in stock.

 

The maps have 4 tabs. 2 are straight, and 2 are angled. To install, you have to insert the maps kind of at an angle to catch the first 2 tabs. After that, it pushes straight in to the remaining 2 tabs. Where are they binding at? It’s just plastic and you could hit it with some sandpaper. But I designed them to operate smoothly like stock, so not sure what it is.

 

Thanks @mesojdm I love my overhead lights!Took 3 weeks but I finally got in fast enough haha. I have your parts in my 4th gen 4runner. From both the 2nd and 3rd gen Tacomas. Everything was super easy install. I took the metal shields out from the map lights as they are not needed anymore. Here is more than enough pictures for you all to dream about haha. All pictures were taken on the same settings.


These would be awesome to check into also. The lights in the doors. Not sure if the tacos have them or not. Mine are weak. A Meso light would look badass and definitely light up the ground as you stepped out of your truck.

 

They just aren't as smooth as factory I guess? I've seen other people's videos and mine are not quite the same.

It's almost like the texture of the plastic is just enough to make it sticky, because they feel like they bind all the way around. I might be shopping for a new overhead console now anyway since I broke that pin. Maybe it will be better after I swap that out.

Thanks! I’ll def look into those lights. And also I think the 4 runner have lights in the hatch? Good to know the 2nd gen maps fit the 4th gen runners!

 

Turn them on and off a bunch and it will "break them in" but first you did put them in the correct side left/right? They are side specific.
