I have a vibration that seems to be coming from the driver's side wheel well. After some research online I basically came to the conclusion that the needle bearing was shot and ordered the ECGS bushing to replacement. However, after doing the driving test and putting the vehicle into 4wd while doing about 40mph the vibration did not disappear as most other people had if their needle bearing was in fact shot.

The truck has 185,000 miles on it so I am sure the bearing is shot and it cannot hurt to replace the part. (There is also some play in the driver's side CV axle indicating to me that the needle bearing is probably shot)

CV boot is also torn so I am also thinking that possibly this could be a cause of my vibration. (boot replacement kit ordered)

Lastly, when turning to the right the vibration goes away and as soon as I put the wheel straight again the vibration comes right back.

Would love to hear what your thoughts are and if my thinking of the needle bearing being shot is the cause of my vibration or if it could perhaps be a bad wheel bearing.

    Thanks for your time.

With your mileage I would check wheel bearings. Inner outter tie rods and lower and upper control arm bushings & ball joints

I'll start checking them. After further research, it's starting to seem like it is probably the wheel bearing that has failed. Can't hurt to do both the wheel bearing and new ecgs bushing as well since the axle wiggles inside the front diff.

It’s easiest to buy the whole hub as an assembly. Super easy to swap out. Take off wheel, takeoff caliper & rotor, and it’s 4 bolts on the back side.

there is a guy who sells hubs here on tacomaworld, or OEM would be best. I have tried Dorman brand ones from O’Reilly’s, and they’ve only lasted about 20,000 miles.
