    Hello all,
I have seen quite a few 2nd gen stock wheels on sale on the site and I can't seem to find a definitive answer on whether a 16" stock wheel from a 4wd Gen 2 Tacoma will fit a 4wd Gen 1 Tacoma.

I am in a bind because I had the wheels/tires changed to aftermarkets in CA (which required a spacer on the front wheels), and when after I drove the truck to MD, I found out that it wouldn't pass the ridiculous safety inpection because the tires extend pass my fenders. I like the look of the stock gen 2 wheels, so I would like to purchase them and have my Geolander AT LT265/75r16 tires mounted on them without the spacers so I can get back inside the fenders.

Anyone know if this will work, or can tell me the backspacing difference between the Gen1 and Gen2 6 lug wheels?

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
4.5"ish Gen 1 vs 5"ish Gen 2...larger the backspacing number the more the wheels tuck in so...anything larger then a 10.5" wide tires you will prolly have issues with UCA clearance.

265/75r16's are just under the 10.5 so that's good, but will the 5" backspacing cause it to hit the caliper? That was why my existing wheels required the spacer.

Only some 15" poses problems with caliper...not the 16".

Don't do it! Your truck will start wanting to go to the shop for repairs.

had these on my 99, second gen 16" alloy with goodyear MT/R 265/75r16. had to get the special lug nuts that go inside the wheel but the fit fine, slight rub on frame at full lock.

Anybody else have 2nd gen wheels on a 1st gen tacoma? I just picked up some 2nd gen wheels and spidertrax spacers and I'm somewhat undecided about it because I could def use the money.

Nice!! :D My '08 was a complete pile of shit. The whole clutch assembly went at 9k miles, the driver door rattled almost from day one and the fit and finish wasn't great.

The truck was bigger and had more power, but I'll take my 1st gen any day for it's simplicity, clean lines and awesome interior ;) I love driving it.

Over the summer, I painted them black. Love the look, it's just a really crappy photo.
