Awesome thanks, I'm tempted to make an offer. Should be a better ride than my 10 year 125k mile suspension.

    Definitely an improvement.

My neighbors truck was similar age and mileage, and it was super low riding and rough riding with his original shocks/leafs.

Yeah, mine is a bit sad looking up front, I think the old coils are pretty tired. Want to make some more breathing room for the 265/75/16s too, but don't want to deal with any vibes etc therefore 1" lift is what I'm aiming for. Any lift issue will mean $ wasted for me as I'll be super happy if I install all myself, but troubleshooting anything above will be beyond my skill and expertise for sure.

Last question, I promise, I'm assuming 3rd gen is similar in weight distribution to 2nd gen, meaning these coils already account for taco lean. I guess what I'm asking 2nd and 3rd gen would have about the same lean from the battery, fuel tank, driver etc? So it will be pretty even when I put these on?

I got fresh recall leafs, but they barely hold the same height as the old 4 leaf. Sumo spring will be next though.

Yeah you'll just want to make sure you take the driver side assembly and put it on the driver side of your truck.

I marked mine with a ziptie on the coil as the color markings on the coils themselves are kind of mysterious.

ah good point on driver vs passenger side. its not easy to distinguish. hopefully potential sellers did a similar marking or notation on their take offs!

I'll ask the seller, sounds like it is a very minor difference in height between the two sides and a PITA to tell the difference.

So apparently I found local take offs from a shop. I can pick either a set of yellow/blue TRD Off road coils and shock assemblies with rear shocks for about $300 USD or a set of blue Hitachi TRD Sport assemblies and rear shocks for $265 USD. Supposedly maybe 5 miles on each set, as they installed lift pretty much straight out of dealer lot.

Please give me a crash course on which do I want and how would this compare to 5100's? I don't off road. My extend of 'off roading' is forestry logging roads. I have a set of A/Ts on. My goals are to refresh my 10 year old tired suspension for another '10' years and get my approx. 1" of lift to level a bit. My 883/5100 planned setup assembled will run me $770 USD, so these are 1/3 of price or a slightly more. This is all impulsive buy for me, I stumbled upon this thread by accident, and this in not like me, I always research my purchases thoroughly, does this sound like a set for me and if so which?

If the end result is the same, go with what is far cheaper.

Sounds like a pretty fair price to me.

Ordering from the US for $200, plus shipping and the Canada penalties are significantly more expensive.

Yeah, I don't think I will be finding these much cheaper locally. OME/5100 kit is about $770 shipped to me or $265 for '16 Sports.

Looks like about 1.25" on RC, 1" on DC 4x2, so safe to assume even less lift on DC4x4? I'll do some more reading tonight and decide what to do by tomorrow.

Worst case you save $500 and lose 1/4" of lift height (I would imagine the 883s would've given about 1.25" as opposed to an inch like the 2016/17 take offs).

If that $300 includes UCAs, even better.

Is this referring to the 883 coils or the 2016 stuff?

You'll see an inch with the 2016 stuff, without a doubt. With the 883s I'd imagine around 1.25", depending.

No UCA's. Just 4 shocks + coils assembled. I'm leaning towards the cheaper Sports as I'm used to the type of ride anyway. If I get at least 0.85 of lift as with Billies, I guess I'd be ultimately happy for the price.

Either set should yield 1" on a DC.

883's should be about 1" on DC 4x4, but I've seen some threads with people getting 1.25 like you say.

I was referring to to 3rd gen Sports. Even from this thread, RC = 1.25", DC 4x2 = 1", so I'm assuming DC 4x4 less than 1".
