Shouldn't be, but you'll find out.

All the 2016/2017s (AC/DC cabs only) are pre-loaded an additional inch from factory compared to the previous gen, so they're all 1" taller than our trucks were. That should be across the board and not dependent on configuration, though no surprise if an RC gets a bit more, they're far lighter than the current trucks which are heavier still than the second gen trucks, hence the significantly heavier OEM coil rates.

Thanks for all the great info. Yeah, will find out and post measurements. Oh well, no 'sexy' 5100 for me this time around, maybe at 300 000k :burnrubber:

You don't really see the 5100s too much with an inch of lift and 265/75s. ;)

I plan on doing the same. Adding 2017 trd take offs on all 4 corners, and throwing sumo springs in the back (which I hear give u about 5/8" lift)

That will be perfect, yeah, from reading up on these, most people seem to get right about 5/8" as you say. Should work out nicely with the 1" up front.

Picked up blue take offs today. Out of curiosity, seems like most went with the yellow Bilsteins Off Road ones. Is that by preference, or just grabbing whichever was available. Just wondering if I should have went with the softer OR ones, that 717lb still worries me....I realize I'm just ...:deadhorse: now...:anonymous:

It definitely seems like more off-road take offs are for sale. At least here on TW

I have read many posts of people replacing the 3rd gen sport shocks with 3rd gen OR take offs and claim they think the OR shocks ride better. I dont know first hand just what i've read on here. No matter what 3rd gen setup you go with its a great cheap 1" lift!

So I got my lightly-used 2017 TRD OR billsteins installed today. as well as sumo springs. Wow does it make the ride better. My regular cab was quite bumpy before with the heavy E rated tires and stock suspension. The new suspension makes for SUCH A BETTER, SMOOTHER RIDE. like damn. Smooth AF! The new suspension also leveled the truck.

Thanks everyone for all the helpful advice and info in this thread.

I like this idea. Do you know if these are a direct fit on my 2013 SR5?

Its all true... I have 2016 TRDOR shocks and coils on my 2006 regular cab, well worth it! Much better ride, almost 2 inches of lift in my case, bolt on application.

Awesome, can't wait to install mine. (TRD Sports) Current ride is abysmal with original worn suspension.

How do you like Sumos, any lift? Any vibrations? I'm hoping I can get away with no front diff needle bearing issues with such a small lift.

Based on this thread, this can be a great upgrade for us 2nd gens just wanting a small lift and on budget. Certainly looks like a better way to go than messing with spacers for similar money and as a bonus a nicer ride. Lastly, since Toyota upgrades Tacomas once in 10-12 model years, we should have a steady supply of new take offs for years to come.

sumos lifted maybe 1/2inch or so. nothing major. havent carried any loads yet. no vibration. whole truck seems solid while absorbing bumps much better.

I'm with you and am worried about the ride. I also just looked and saw that the 2nd is a lighter truck. (I thought it was heavier) I thought about using my 2015 trd billys with the coils but i don't want to have to do this again.

I'm having mine installed today. Was planning to try installing myself, but don't feel like trying in freezing weather. :( I will post back with pictures and first ride impressions in a few days. I knew 3rd gen is slightly heavier, but I believe a much smaller difference than 1st to 2nd gen. Either way, it is not like we are putting 3/4 ton coilovers on and seems like everyone who went this route likes the ride. Either way, too late for me, will see how it turns out. My current ride is so bad, there is no way this won't be an improvement.

Sorry you're the guinea pig. I really hope it turns out to be a nice ride. Let's make Hitachi's Great Again!

I thought you got the OR Billsteins? Yeah, curious myself. Forgot to take a pic before, but should have some fairly recent to compare. Currently sitting 20" hub to fender front (both sides) and 22" at the back (both sides)
