X2. Well thought out. On a long trip 2500+ RPM eventually gets loud. I turn the (stereo) system way up and that's all I can hear.

Im sure the manual is really nice to have with this combo. The AT, 4:56, and 35” tires is a great combo for what I do being we drive hundreds of miles to get to epic spots. I believe it’s a good balance. 4lo just gets used a lot when I start to climb. Problem solved and no excess load on the drive train.

Totally not a one size fits all. I guess perhaps I misspoke too much in recommending 5:29 for 35’s and up on 5spd AT. I have found it to be generally a less popular choice but one that should be higher regarded by many users. Again, even in my post you quoted im referring to preferring a slightly over geared truck than an under geared truck which I think is a great argument for off-road vehicles. To each his own, we are all apples and oranges & eggplants out here. I love and would do 5:29 for 35’s in AT over and over but I can see how that’s not best for some users

Thank you. I will say I'm slow as hell though. A 4cyl manual with 5.29 and 37s keeps up with me from 30 to 55 then the top end I roll out.

Main thing is when you add the locker to your rear diff don't go Detroit....

Hahaha my factory rear locker and front Harrop have been very reliable and no issues fingers crossed it stays that way.

I hope it stays that way. After 3 Detroit exploded I just put a spool in it and called it good.

I'm about to order a rear axle and decided to go 4.88s.
Was on the fence between 4.88s and 5.29s but I'm getting a Dana 60.

My LT will be +5.5" in the front.
Going +5" on the WMS for my rear axle.
What do you guys think of +5" on the rear WMS?

    Also 40 spline.
Not FF but hey, 40 spline, keep abs, atrac, cruise control and salmon mode.

Did it break the inner joint or outer?

On the inner, it pulled out. I can't see any breakage which is what baffles me.

In my experience, breaking an inner joint is usually related to binding. Check to make sure your not overextending anything and that you dont have CV bind at full droop. You might have to limit travel a bit and get some limit straps.

Breaking an outer joint is usually related to wheel speed/torque or repeated abuse.

I do have Rokmen race series Heim Joint UCA's. They may have contributed to over extending it perhaps?

Yes it contributed, most aftermarket UCAs allow for the additional travel, but if they didnt, you would go through upper ball joints more often. Usually the shocks are the limiting factor, and if you over extend them you will bind the inner cv joint. Limit straps are the best solution for keeping the cvs within their operational limits.

I'll have to look into that. Still need to do some CSI on the cv axle. Maybe something I missed as I was more worried on getting it movable again.

934 axles from jd would probably solve that problem

Even with 934 axles you will need limit straps, youll just start breaking other stuff if you dont.

For example, my spindle hits my coilover without limit straps and it bent my shock shaft and damaged the lower shock mount.
