Even when I tell my boss to use my vacation hours for an absence he usually doesn't, so it's a regular salary day as far as payroll is concerned. I'm close to hitting my 180 hour cap :anonymous:

I am still game. But the COVID stuff may get in the way so I guess we will have to play it by ear.

Haha oddly enough drove by the campsite coordinates Thursday.

We were going to camp up there but ended up continuing our drive further south.

I'm very intrigued and interested. Lot's of places up there I love to visit, i.e. Mono Lake, Owen's Valley, Bodie, and places I still need to get to like Yosemite's Portal View.

I'd I'm 90%, but like @sdsurfer , I need to check with the boss first. I would also be taking extra time afterwards for more photography after the meet.

    Sub'd

The date in the subject line should be updated to the new date to avoid confusion.

    9/25-27 = San G
    9/04-06 = Mammoth

@eccracer104 :smack: Don't scare people like that which is why I suggested the date change in the subject line ( it currently conflicts with San G, but this Mammoth trip is currently looking at 2 weeks prior ). :p

I think Little Antelope Valley uses Owens River-Hot Creek Road to end and drives right by the Geological Hot Spring Site according to mammothtrails.org . If correct, Owens River-Hot Creek Road isn't a big deal and is well graded and sorta graveled from what I remember of it ( I've been to the Geological site a few times ).

    Saturday...
Laurel Lakes would be a great day trip ( again for some ), but Little Antelope Valley with Owens River-Hot Creek Road could make a nice easy night run.

    Sunday...
Also, I would suggest getting to the Patriarch Grove of the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest since it's a place that most people would never think of visiting and it's like an alien planet there. It's not a place to be stupid though because the trees are literally thousands of years old, so carving initials or souvenirs are a huge no. An early start is recommended to get there, spend some time there wandering around, and be able to get back to LA or San Diego before 10pm.

Here's images I've take at the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest. Milky Way photography here results in some pretty epic photos.

If SEP isn't viable, think about OCT, because a trip to Tuolumne Meadows on the way to Yosemite could be pretty epic for fall colors just to simply take in scenery. Photographers would love day shooting here.

The 3rd Annual Red Canyon Trail run will try to be setup for OCT. So these runs all within 2 months will give the easy-going folks a lots of different terrain and experiences. And yes, something that a family sedan shouldn't be doing.

@TacoSauceHB... How about changing the title and OP to reflect Sept 4-6 since it appears that is the consensus. The date reflected on the title conflicts with the San G event which many of us are already committed to attending. I believe if you change the date in the title and the OP we will get more potential candidates to join the Mammoth trip. Thanks for arranging this trip BTW... :D
