Beach is bigger, not crowded with tons of people, less cops, you can do a little bit of dune driving, and if you go to PINS you can do even more dune driving.

Ah man, I've always heard the surf fishing at PINS is awesome. I still don't really see how surf fishing there is better than at more isolated parts of SPI. Like I said, I've always heard the fishing is better at PINS than at SPI, but I dunno if it's true or not, but I do always see better surf fishing reports for PINS, I gotta go check it out one day...

Yeah, a TacomaWorld trip down PINS for some fishing/camping would be awesome.

PINS = Padre Island National Seashore

Enjoy the beach and the surf, but please don't drive on the dunes... It's not just the tickets and the fines, remember that that's natural protection against hurricanes and natural habitat for tons of wildlife... Lecture done, sorry couldn't help it, professional habit :)

That said, North Padre is really cool, camped out there for 3 days for New Years once, wish I had my Tacoma back then, could have driven down all the way to the cut-off!

Oh, and I hear that fishing at Big Shell Beach (miles 20 to 30 on PINS) is the best, lots of fishing guides from Corpus and Pt. Mansfield organize expeditions there, really good surf fishing!
