I'm doing the corrosion warranty buyback too, very happy with the results! I had a stick shift but with the 2014 dual cab 4x4 I had to choose between stick shift or long bed. I did some reading and it looks like aside from it being more fun to drive there aren't any compelling advantages to a manual anymore, so I went for the long bed. I've had it for a week now and my only complaint is that I don't have several thousand bucks sitting around to do all these awesome mods I've been seeing on here!

6 speed here too. Can't imagine why anyone would buy a slush box on a truck. The 6 speed in our trucks are very tough and overbuilt for the tacoma(6 speed was originally designed for the tundra) so that means it will last forever. Just don't rush the shifts, because it's overbuilt the gear sets are quite large, thus it will prefer nice smooth, deliberate shifts.

    Cheers, James

I drive a heavy haul truck all day every day. My work truck has 18 gears with a 2 speed rear for 36 total. I'm tired of shifting after being on the road for 2 months straight, shifting gear after gear after gear. When I get home I don't want to shift any more gears. That's why I bought a slush box in my '14 trd. Plus I'm a puss.

    Bone Stock, for now
I hunted down my truck simply because it had the manual. I could see owning a full size truck in an auto just for the laziness of it but in a truck this tossable and fun? Has to have a proper gearbox and 3 pedals! All the recent snow does nothing but confirm that too, for me anyway. Better vehicle control when the terrain calls for it and way, way more fun!

I know some people like the pedal ebrake, but I can't stand them. I was very happy when I sold my gen 1 for the gen 2 and found it still has the handbrake. It comes in handy for steep boat ramps. Also lets you apply the ebrake without it being locked on.

Also the pedal ebrake reminds me of mid 80's domestic cars, not a fan.

Couldn't imagine having a taco without the pull handle ebrake.

I love the TRD short throw shifter. Night and day. Check it out.

I drive 6- speed mt love it. Knock on wood have not had any issue except burning up the clutch due to bigger tires and burning up during off roading.

I personally think if you have small truck it should be manual. Automatic are for pussy. It also amazing me that people don't know how to drive them.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I wonder if I can get a lower insurance premium for a stick because it may be considered an anti theft device. I'm sure at least 90% of the crooks/morons around here can't drive a stick.

A little of this and a little of that.
I like my 2011 Timberland Mica six-speed manual. Three pedals is the only way to drive!

Very true but it is tough to rock crawl with mt. Unless you have twin transfer case.

I wanted a 6MT but the DCLB was more important, but my DD is a 6MT so at least drive the proper way in my car! If I ever ran into a large pile of money I would do a AT - MT swap! I wish Toyota would make DCLB in stick, but I know that will never happen....

I've thought a few times about getting the TRD shifter. But I think for me the only issue I have is the throttle hang. If it was reduced or fixed the transmission would be much better.
