Went to the dealer for my 10K oil change. On the way there, i was listening to the radio, and finding nothing to my liking, turned the radio off. After the oil change & complimentary wash, I headed home. Once on my way, I turn the radio on, only to find it was picking up only one of my presets on the FM1, FM2, and AM bands. Once tuned to that preset, I can press SCAN, and the dial scrolls though all the frequencies, not even stopping on the one preset that was working.

I would have turned around and went back to the Toyota West in Statesville, but I did not have 30 mins to spare for them to check it out once I returned, I called when I got home, and the service dept told me to bring it back for a look-see.

I had the tuner replaced for the same problem in '11, and posted about it on here. I tried searching for that post, so I could include the link, but had no luck with Search.

Now I have to waste part of Saturday to go back and have them look at the problem, again. That was the whole point of getting the oil changed today, :frusty:

Thanks, Dan. I was searching for threads I created, but came up empty 3 times. :notsure:

The CD does work, as with the original audio unit.

Anyone else have the stock unit die repeatedly?

Perhaps I should ask if this 2nd bad unit qualifies me for a free JBL upgrade.....

:der: I fixed the problem...make that oversight. When the they ran my truck through the wash, they forgot to put the radio antenna back on.

When I left the dealer yesterday, I heard a metal "clink". I didn't have anything metal rolling around in the cab or bed, and I didn't hear it again, so I didn't get concerned about it. When the radio didn't work, I looked out the window at where the antenna should've been, then thought "maybe I am thinking about my previous trucks' antennae (do I get extra points for knowing the plural of antenna?).

This morning, I took a look, and saw the antenna missing. A quick check of the cab found the antenna stuck between the passenger seat and the center console. I screwed it back in, and am ready to rock.

Now, if only commercial radio played something worth listening to....
