Hi there! Sorry if this is a dumb question. I’m looking to buy the DIR harness for my 2nd Gen Tacoma OR. There are options for the “regular harness” and “w/ reverse tap.” Could you clarify what person will need the additional Reverse Tap? I see the description states it is in case you want to run a 12v camera when in reverse. Is this supposed to run a separate camera from the backup camera?

I have a backup camera already and have no plans of running an additional camera for the vehicle. I’m just looking for the harness that will cut off my license plate lights when in reverse. I’m assuming that is the regular version?

Thank you in advance for your help! Love your products you’ve created. All the best.

    Yes, you want the regular.

the camera feed would be for someone like me who doesn’t have the factory camera and wants to add one quickly with 12v power but only for use when in reverse (no anytime capability). Or for any other possible reverse use such as aux reverse with a relay, etc.

Please do confirm that you have the license plate intercept. It’s a 4 position connector which feeds the two side plate lights. One 2nd gen guy didn’t have that and I had to make extensions to T the bulb adapters for him.
