    I have a 96 Tacoma 4wd w/ 3RZ 2.7 bad engine, Will a 2.4 2RZ engine work as a replacement. Can't find many decent used 2.7's, amny more 2.4's available. What are issues??

the 2.4 only came in the 2wd 5 lug while the 2.7 came in pre runners and 4wds

The 3RZ has one more inch of compression. There shouldn't be an issue.

Did you ever find out if a 2.4 would work in your tacoma. I am in a similar situation. I can find LOTS of 2.4 engines but no reasonably priced 2.7 engines.
