Just installed a 88thousand mile motor in my 2007 Tacoma after I had a head gasket go bad at 354k
Motor is running excellent and not showing hot on temp haulage but it is super hot to the touch when touch top of the cylinder head “metal exposed around valve cover on these motors”
Is this normal for this engine or is it running to warm
Maybe I need to switch out the temp sender/sensor ?

Need a scangauge or scan tool to see what actual coolant temp is but all engines are gona be hot to touch at operating temp which is around 180-190F for 2nd gens.

Thanks . Yeah I think all is good and it’s normal just worried as it’s a new low mile engine and don’t want to overheat it I think all is well but still fixing to go pickup a scan gauge now to make sure and it’ll be good to have to monitor the exact temp of coolant and know for peace of mind
