Howdy folks, I am motor swapping my truck with a lower mileage 2TR and I have a question about the engine serial number. Would a higher engine serial number indicate the motor came out of a newer truck, or does it indicate something else like where it was manufactured?

I just found this question. I am doing a 2trfe swap on my truck too. Here is what I found. If this is correct, I think the first number indicates the plant that it was made in and the last six numbers are serial numbers. But according to the pic attached there is no "0" for to indicate the toyota plant?

I suspect the TSB that diagram came from likely contains a typo (should read 0-9 not 1-9), but yes, the first digit is the plant and the following 6 are the serial number.
