I have a 3rd genner interested, he just hasn't been able to purchase yet. He sent pics of his and they appear to be identical, with the exception of one external hose bracket. The motor is the same internally. I'd be willing to work with you if you want to try it out, letting you return it for a refund if it doesn't fit. It's up to you, just let me know.

That would be awesome, but I'm still waiting to do my 5,000 mile service. Going to get that done before doing any sort of modifications. I'm sure Toyota will void my warranty for any changes. I did some research on the updated 2tr-fe, and came across an Australian review. The author states revised "Tumble port intake profile to improve swirl in the combustion chamber" Not sure how this would be affected with the addition of a 2" spacer. Also I took a few photos of the intake manifold. As hard as it is to see it seems to have a 7/8" thick flange that runs along the mounts. It also looks to have an additional 7/8-1" space off the mounting flange. This might be a factory change from the previous 2tre-fe? My previous truck was identical to my new truck just a 2009, and the new truck feels like it has a lower torque curve, but that could also be subjective.

Yes. From the pics I've seen, everything looks the same except for that small device just towards the front side of where the throttle body is. Also, the only revision to the engine was in 2015, in which it went from vvt to dual VVT-i. This added exhaust variable valve timing, along with the already variable intake. This could be the difference you're feeling from your 09'. From the studying I've done on the project, the only thing the spacer does is allow more readily available air when the valves open. It has no actual effect on the engine itself. It's strange how it works, really. But I've seen other Dyno data studies in more drastic fashion showing the same results. Like I said, you're welcome to be the guinea pig whenever you want. Otherwise, I'll let you know if the other 3rd genner pulls the trigger before you, and the outcome.

It's awesome to see other 4 cylinder Tacoma enthusiasts! Also impressed that you're actually building your own spacers! I would like to see more fit up photos of a third gen 4 cylinder before purchasing. I use my truck for work, and need it in operation close to everyday, so I would need to be confident of fitment before purchasing. Have you reached out to "Slow Moe" https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...x4-5-speed-access-cab-build-bs-thread.427983/
He has done a ton of work to his 3rd gen 4 Cylinder, with excellent coverage. He would be a great guy to test your manifold spacer on the Third gen platform? I'm sure it would fit no problem, but it would also be nice to see a write up on the install for the revised 2tr if there were any changes. He also has baseline dyno numbers.

I agree, the little 4 cylinder is a beast. And thanks, but I can't take all the credit. A guy on here previously made these, but stopped for some reason. I really wanted one, so I found a guy to make them for me. Mostly everything is based off the previous design.
I have several 3rd genners interested in purchasing a spacer, we just need someone to pull the trigger. I mentioned moe the other day but he hasn't responded. We'll see, hopefully someone will be able to test it out soon so we will know. And like I said, if it doesn't work, no biggie. They can return the spacer and I'll refund their money. No worries.

Well I tried to put this in today (spacer) . And I come across 2 issues. maybe cause its a 15'. but I new about the bottom bolts being an issue (tricky) but I not to sure there supposed to be that far out. there is no way that bolt is going to thread in at that angle.it is raised 1/2"+ and my hose on the side of the intake is a reducer with a somewhat 45degree . how did you get yours to work . cause as of now I have to put it back to normal for now. and really dig deep in to my jerry rigging tool box. All well. I'm of to the store to get some preperation H .this is being a pain in my ass. o2V0MhRXTu6IBvCbAdG6%w.jpg3r+aS3lRRfKK1QDOWjPW1A.jpgUIyPZESQQW60Q0jFzYsDdA.jpg

Manifold will no longer line up on the bottom after installing. Pull it out and reinsert it under the Manifold. It'll act like a support for it.

As for the hoses, I just went to autozone/Car store to bought similar sized hoses.

hmmmm. I kinda figured that. at first. and use the two nuts to sandwich to the plastic. but just couldn't do that. Toyota didn't want it that way so I can't do it that way. thats plastic and I've had nothing but problems with plastic on my old trucks. so I measured , pondered and come up with a bracket . basically 2pcs shape of a Z I will make them over the week and post a pic of them and find a S shaped hose. was your hose about 1/2" on the plastic side and about 1/4" on the metal side . as for now its back to normal. will give it another shot next weekend. I only had one day to fuck with it.this week. As for the spacer it fit perfect. Thanks for the input.

Sorry, we were driving to Gatlinburg and I couldn't reply. The hose was the same diameter on both ends. The smaller of the 2 (pics on this thread) is for the back side of the intake manifold, the one with the bend in it. The larger is for the top of the intake tube. I was fortunate and was able to scavenge from parts laying around in the garage. As for the lower mounts, I kind of thought about the same offset bracket you're speaking of. I just haven't had time to mess with it again yet. I'm glad to hear you're pleased with the part, but I apologize for the trouble. As I stated before it's not super difficult to install, but it's not a bolt on part. Hopefully you're able to find some hoses and get things buttoned up soon! And yes, please add pics of your bracket when you get it done.

its all good. I read some more on here and I think I found a solution. adding a catch can (oil in the intake) off the valve cover and eliminate the factory hose all together with a different hose setup but still use the plastic nipple. mine is two different sizes. must be the year. ill post back after its sorted and finished with what was used.

Sounds interesting also? Keep us posted! And mine seemed the same size, but maybe it was different? I couldn't really get in there to get a good look.

You should be able to cut a piece of pipe the same thickness as the spacer and space the bottom holes out; there should be no reason for the bottom holes to not line up.
