Hmm. Hopefully it is simply that the cylinder only needs some extra lube.

Well, I took a squirt bottle and taped a hose to it, that I capped and poked a side hole in. I put that down the cylinder, squeezed and rotated. Then hand cranked and soaked up any excess with rag strips. Did a compression test and all good. Let it sit 24 and tried again and all good.

I have it most of the way together now. Just coolant and serp belt. I figure do the initial start and see how it goes. Gonna do a little praying to the car gods for good measure.

I put a little dab of gasket maker here. Didn't see a call for it but since the surfaces are mismatched I figured it would help.

    New studs and gasket.

    Exhaust installed.20180702_110815.jpg

Also went to Toyota and got the new bypass pipe. Make sure you get the gasket too if you do this as it's different then the old one.

So the dnj kit has had some failings but they're mostly minor. One is the throttle body gasket was the wrong size and broke when I tried to put it on not realizing. I put the old one back in.

    Almost there.

Hopefully get it fully done and started tomorrow.

Still waiting for results and opinions on the clutch. I will definitely be using this entire thread as a guide when I decide to fall into the turbo pit

    A thing or two...
    Great work so far.

I cleaned my throttle body last year, and I tried using a Felpro gasket. It looked like that and didn't fit either. I bought a new one from the stealership, and they don't have the metal part anymore.

    Its alive!

    20180707_210405.jpg

Started 1st try went great. Had an o-ring on injector 1 leak. It didn't seat right. Other then that, ran for 20 min all good. Then took it to the car wash quick.

So far looking good. Now time to break-in!

On the bypass tube did you need longer fasteners? I think I read the bolts that were on the plastic tube are too short?

    Nope, it was fine.

The only frustrating part was Toyota ordered the wrong gasket. I had to give them the part number for it. Turns out the 06 parts list doesn't have it listed. But I think 11 did.

The truck belonged to my family's blacksmith. They have horses. It was used as a work truck but is still in good condition, just dirty.

I have close to 2k into it I'd say. Which is awesome.
