My 06 has a little over 167k miles...no major issues.

No. I did purchase the vehicle in jan of 08 ( it was built in Sept of 06).
When I purchased it it had 36,000 miles. I have drained and filled the entire coolant system (radiator and block) at 100,000 miles.

As far as I know the cooling system is completely stock

This is a weak link of this engine. Pipe will crack you'll notice a puddle of antifreeze on floor on driver side under/hidden around the powder steering area. When the pipe cracks it'll start sucking air, and stop drawing coolant from the reservoir, so the tank will look full. The temp gauge wouldn't show overheating cause there's no water in the head to measure the coolant! Toyota actually set this up for failure, the pipe they replace it with is medal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsBPLiwk9Vw

Hopefully my pipe will make it to 240,000 miles as well. I'll have to keep an eye on it and the radiator though.

I have a 2015 Taco w/2TR-FE, it doesn't burn a drop of 05W-20 syn during a 5k change interval. Mileage is excellent, getting 20mpg city. Power is OK. I have a CBR1000RR for when I'm feeling squirrely, so I don't mind that it's only 130HP. I think it's a great engine, and as was prev. mentioned here in this thread, the Toy trucks' structural steel and body panels fail far sooner than the engines ever will.

A 2015 Taco with 2tr-fe has 161hp not 130. That’s up from my 2012 Taco with 2tr-fe that has 159hp. Wouldn’t even be noticeable; just say 160:hattip: Yes my responses is a little late but given the average taco lifespan…

I’m at 232,000 miles now and it seems to have all the power it had when new. Clutch seems the same as well. I truly think it runs smoother now than it did when new. It has a small oil seep on the upper oil pan, or sifter plate as they called it. Would cost nearly 2k to fix. Otherwise it shows no oil consumption. Definitely not worth fixing at this point so I let it seep. Vehicle-wise, the Taco is the best money I’ve ever spent.
