    Hello,

This is my second post and i might get some heat for it but i have a few questions you guys will most likely be able to answer.

    1. Will the 2UZ-fe fit into the engine bay of my 05 tacoma prerunner?
    2. What exactly will i need to do this swap?
    3. Does the 2UZ-FE bolt to the a750e transmission that is in my truck now?
    4. Has anybody else done this swap and for how much?

Please help me if you can i really want a LS3 in my tacoma but its out of my price range and from the research ive done it looks like the 2UZ will be a much simpler swap than a LS3.

Thanks in advance and i hope i can do this swap within a reasonable price range.

That motor is only rated around 271hp/315tq. That is not really a big gain for all of the work you will have to do. You would likely be better off just getting a supercharger unless you just really want a V8.

so in your guys' opinion what would be the best swap with minimal headaches and best bang for the buck....the only thing that would irritate me would be clearance issues.

Why is it that you are wanting to do a swap? Is something wrong with the motor in your truck or do you just want to do it for the hell of it to be different?

both i want a v8 and i blew my head gasket and what turns me off on the 1GR-FE is the open head deck on it ....i want the most power possible in my truck but i don't want to spend 12k plus to sleeve and stroke the 1GR...that why i was leaning more towards the ls or 2uz swap

If it was me I would go LS/LQ4. There is a massive aftermarket for them and the power potential is only limited by your checkbook. If they can shoehorn an LS into a Miata I am sure with enough planning and know how it should go right in the Tacoma. You are going to be looking at a lot of custom fabrication regardless of which route you go. The LS would be better though because it is lighter so you won't have to beef up the suspension as much.

Wouldn't a 2UZ-FE be a fairly straightforward swap (at least in terms of bolting it in place)? The transmission in these trucks were originally designed for that motor in the 4Runner.

I put the 2uz-fe in my 03 tacoma double cab. I have been driving it now for about 4 months. Just last week I drove a 07 taco with the 4.0 and I was not impressed. I have been spoiled. The low end torque of the 2uz-fe is awesome. It also did not cost me anything but my time. I purchased the 06 tundra for 1100.00 and sold 1250.00+ in parts not used. I also sold the good 3.4 That was in my truck paying for specialty parts that I needed to acquire. It was a lot of fun, but nearly impossible at times.

2uz-fe is a sweet engine, nice lowend torque.
The Tundra 4.7 was better than the 4Runner 4.7. I think it's the exhaust headers are different. Either have good lowend torque, nice for towing. My 4.0l strained so bad towing I went to the 4.7 and it stays one gear lower when towing.

The 2uz-fe isn't a tow monster, nothing exceptional about it. It's derived from the Lexus V8, just a good all around engine.
