is it really that much better to have 4v or greater pre out?

I will be hooking up a Rockford Fosgate bd1000.1 which put out about 1100 rms at 2 ohms. I’m hooking up to JL Audio dual 8 inch box that’s ported and 500rms ... does it really matter on the pre out voltage here?

Simply for sub frequencies u probably won't notice a difference as we can tolerate much more distortion down there. But whenever possible best practice is to start with a strong signal. You have to amplify it less which translates to lower system noise and distortion.
