ya got it....i dont even trust dealers though. I worked at Ford for 6or7 yrs and damn they would hire to dumb ass people. especially for the "quick lane"

you have anyway of doing it yourself? Get a Fumoto oil drain valve if you do, makes things easy as hell. i've had mine on for at least a year now.

 

It's a tad more of a pita than yours. We actually have to crawl under to take cap and cartridge out. Not simple screw on top of the damn engine.

 

Once my free oil changes are over. I'll definitely get one of those. I need to learn how to do more things on my own. I need to start attending mod days, but I'm still a noob so with time.

 

ya cant stand that on the 3rd gens but the drain bolt on the pan, won't need to worry about unscrewing and screwint back on when you do oil changes.

 

So just take off the filter and let it drain. Instead of unscrewing the drain bolt?

 

If memory serves me right you do both. The cartridge filter is also on the 5th gen 4Runner.

 

na, your still going to have to unscrew that bolt to drain the oil before you take the filter off (not sure if fumoto has something for that yet) but the oil pan drain bolt on the bottom back of the engine, you replace that bolt with the fumoto and just turn the valve to drain (open) and close when ready to put new oil in the engine.

 

Super messy that way. That valve still works for our truck
