From that picture it was two more pulls with and adjustment in between. Still almost an hour from freedom. We were trying to keep the max traks under the tires and reduce the steepness by moving several large rocks out of the way. Yes the truck only it's nerf bars dented for the most part. Truck was still in good enough shape that to continue for the weekend.

Lots of poison oak and ivy down there or stinging nettles. Not sure, one of the kids got some on his leg after falling in it lol. Little cortisone cream and a change of clothes and we were all good. He isn't a very outdoorsy kind of kid. My son was fine and had a blast with no issues. It was a little to cold play in water. They might have if we didn't get to camp at 430 pm. Beautiful place and great kid place just watch out for mean angry plants.

Sounds like a blast. Yeah my boy slid down a hill into a bush a few weeks ago up in Cleveland NF. had a small rash that evening but was fine.

Mine learned fast. When he was 5 we were up in big bear. He wanted to go hiking so we went down into the canyon right behind the dam. When we were at the bottom he grabbed a dried stinging nettle bush and let out a blood curdling scream. I didn't see what he had touched but he wouldn't stop screaming so I count figure out how to treat it. So I started grabbing plants until I found the right one. Holy SHIT that hurt and burned like hell, but once I found it I knew what to do. I told him it was ok, scream if he needed to but it wasn't going to help. Took him down to the little steam and soaked his hand in the cold water for a few then carried him half way up the canyon wall until his hand felt a little better. We hiked out put some cream on his hand and he was happy to just play on the lake shore the rest of the time.

Understood. Just want to get wheel off to inspect all other nuts and bolts. Just started like a half hour ago. No issues all weekend or trip home. Take the bitch to work and she is going to tantrum on me.

That's because the truck doesn't want to go sit in a parking lot all day after a weekend of playing in the dirt! She's already suffering from withdraws. :burnrubber:

We actually had cell reception and full LTE on the trail where we were (only ~15 minutes up Bee Canyon) but problem is Chan was at the campsite and no cell service there.
Hindsight we should have called Dirk to let Chan know, I didn't think to call him but had tried calling Chan. We're all learning as we go, last thing we expected was a truck going off the side of the trail, good lesson to expect the unexpected. Next time we know to focus 1st on making sure no one is injured, no one in immediate danger and then making contact with "base camp" to update our current status. If one of us did have a high enough power radio to reach Chan, he may have been able to hear us but we wouldn't know if he did since he couldn't reply back without an equally strong radio.

End of the day no one was hurt, we all made it to camp and found each other. Learning experience for us all. Time to upgrade the mobile communications, having one truck leave the incident to drive up to Chan would have been a good hour to hour and a half drive each way and I'm not sure if anyone other than myself and Madison knew where to look for Chan since our original camp spot was taken (we didn't know he put up a sign that said "TW this way" to the new camp spot).

Again, we all learned something on the trail that day, no one got hurt and everyone made it home so in the end it all worked out.

ps: I'm not looking to create an argument, friendly discussions welcome. I mean no harm :)

I agree 100% ... if you guys would have left anyone else by I don't think we would have found chan and god forbid something would have happened and no one knew. End of day everyone walked away and we made it to camp

But yeah agreed, we need better comms. Ironically we have a hard mount HAM sitting on a shelf waiting to be installed, just haven't gotten around to it :anonymous:

This is what you get when you smash your finger with max track between the tire. Good set of gloves should be in your recovery gear.

I learned something also. Stay the fuck off Bee Canyon on the weekends. There are other trails that are just as good if not better.

Ummmmm.... you have seen my differential haven't you. If not go back a few pages and look for my video. That should clear up any confusion. They still don't have a fix other than retorque the bolts. I am pretty sure that's not going to work for me. Lol. We shall see what the future holds.
