:rofl:Looks like you procrastinated in film class until the last minute on that big animation project, and then realized how fricking much work 18 frames a second really is. Couple hours in, overdosed with nodoze and energy drinks, you created that as your final project!:anonymous:

If you have any doubts, just take the L and get rid of it. I traded my 2017 4x2 trd sport for a 2019 4x4 trd offroad. I’m down around $8,000 with the trade in and tax and licensing, but gained the added security of knowing I have 4wd if I need it. Just get whatever makes you happy.

I dont need 4x4 on a regular basis but there will be a time when it will come in handy and i will be happy i had it then. This is my first truck and the only things on my want list was (not a red, v6, and 4x4) as long as i had those things covered i could get it for under 30k and mod the truck the way i wanted. (not how the factory thinks i want. )

I regretted my last vehicle purchase, i wasnt going to settle and make the same mistake twice.

Whats your tire size? I'm running 265/70/17 and technically 31.6 inches, just trying to see what options are out there for a 32.

    Thanks

I used to take my stock 1984 extra cab Toyota 2 WD places it should have never gone but with speed and some alcohol it always made it through. The carburetor 22R was much faster than the 92 four runner 22RE we had. Both were very tough machines and never broke down with either.

X2 with a positive rear end you’d get that sucker just about everywhere a 4x4 without a locker can go.

Below is my 2016 2.7L SR 2wd Tacoma. I have 235/85/16 Cooper ST Maxx on factory wheels. 2.25” Pro Comp Leveling kit on factory Struts with 1” Low Range OffRoad blocks on rear with Bilstein 5100s. The bed rack is a Mobtown OffRoad Rack with a Yakima Load Warrior Cargo Basket. It is my daily with 64k miles. We have mild winters with ok amounts of snow which I haven’t had one bit of problems. Do I need a 4wd? No. Would I like to have one? Doesn’t matter.

    this and that...
my truck is practically a prerunner sports build. even though i do have 4wd ill never use it as such. my truck is strictly a street truck. the only time ill use 4wd is for 4hi...

edit: with that being said. i did opt for 265/70/17 for more sidewall. they are in a sl-rating to keep the weight down. i have no desire to run armor or a lift with a heavy wheel and tire combination. i been down that road with my other builds and in the end it just wasnt me. so i just relegate to other stuff that would make my truck quicker and that i have no qualms about it. my truck is a trd sport and thats exactly what i wanted, a sports truck lol.

Almost a year later, reading this rebooted thread, all I can say is “eating the $8,000” isn’t something everyone can bump down their long-term throat. Maybe it should be “do what makes you happy and able to weather an unseen storm.”

Think about your long term needs and then decide what type of truck is best for you. Drive the one you have around for a while and see if you really need 4WD or it's just something that you want. If after driving it for a while 4WD is what you really want, then see if it makes senses to trade it in what you have and get a 4WD.

I bought a 2017 SR5 AC that was 2WD even though my wife said I should get a DC :anonymous:. A year later I realized that she was right :frusty: and that I also wanted 4WD. Traded it in and and got a TRD OR DC 4WD, which I plan on keeping for a long time. The trade made sense for me because I had $5K in equity on my old truck that I used as the down payment for the new truck.

I am in the same boat. I assumed the off road costed more so we went with the Sport 2wd. Joined TW and started disliking the truck after learning they have the same msrp and what the OR comes with. If I could do it over again, I'd get the Off road 2wd or even a SR5 4x4. The OR 2wd is perfect for me in stock form, softer suspension, locker, nicer wheels, tho the taillights are a lil ugly lol. But I am stuck with the Sport and loving it more everyday. Just have to change the stiff suspension, wheels, and live without a locker or 4x4
