I was watching a couple videos on installing new wheels and tires for a tacoma and happened to read in the comment section that 2wd tacomas don't need a CMC in order to fit bigger tires. Is the cab mount in a different location than the 4x4? Need some clarification on this before I choose my lift and tires! Thanks!

I’ve done CMCs on 2wd and 4wd for 2nd and 3rd gens. Haven’t noticed a difference in the mounts within the same generation of trucks regardless of drivetrain- this is excluding 5 luggers of course.
