I have less in my Prerunner converted 4x4, lift, tires, wheels, gears, exhaust, sound system, etc than what it would have cost to buy a 4x4... 11K for truck with 55K miles, grandpa truck, garage kept and it was only 3yrs old. Same year truck/mileage/etc was 16K or more at the time. There is not a lot that goes into it, you just have to read and do your homework on it. Plus it makes it "one of a kind" and it means that much more to you.

I looked at the SAS swap and there is a lot more that goes into it than what you would think, plus I personally wouldn't want to go hardcore wheel my truck, scratch it all to hell and dent it up... if you insist on doing extreme wheeling, why not just buy a beater that you can cut/trim/roll/ who gives a crap to? although a DD/Off-road rig is cool to have... idk it is personal preference

Great info... i was wondering what it would take to convert an automatic to a manual (just begging the itch of curiosity.)
