Get your truck up to Flagstaff area and enjoy all the roads up there. Just avoid rain or snow and you'll be fine in 2wd.20180803_141745.jpg

What's really going to blow their mindholes is that a 6x4 is also 4wd :goingcrazy:

I used to wheel with my 1968 BMW 1600 sedan. Friend in back seat got his foot stuck under the front seat when we bottomed out, so I had to kick the floor back down to free it. Then we took my friend’s dad’s Vista Cruiser station wagon overlanding and got stuck in the Yuma sand dunes, in Box Canyon near Coachella, and almost stuck it in gravel on Old Dale Road in Joshua Tree National Park. We actually made the entire road ok in the Vista Cruiser! That was in the 70’s, but I returned to the same road last year and dented my pie tins on my 2017 OR, go figure.... so in short, yes you can take a 2wd offroading. Bring water, a shovel and a jack, and be prepared to move rocks if needed, and you will be fine.

Shocks are basically a consumable, unless you rebuild, something tells me you don’t...

I just got home from off roading in my 2wd. I've gone mudding and wide open 80+ mph rips on open dirt land and small tight technical trails in my OR. It helps to have the rear locker, but it goes almost anywhere! I've only gotten stuck once because it was really dark and late at night and couldn't see that the ground was actually really soft and sandy, so my buddy with a jeep pulled me out. But to anybody who says that a 2wd cant off road should hop in the passenger seat with me hahaha  They're super capable

80 mph on dirt? Ugh- sat in the back seat of a 15 passenger van doing 50 or so on a wide open dirt road and the idiot driver hit a rut. All I could see through the front window was a view like we were looking almost straight down at the road while I was floating in mid air. Another time I drifted quite a lot on a gravel road going too fast around a corner, that was fun. That kind of dirt driving is not really for me anymore, besides there are too many others offroading these days and invariably, I always seem to meet them on blind corners.

Agree with everyone saying go but go with friends to pull you out. I got and play in the mud and dirt with friends pretty often but have to know how to approach things differently and keep plenty of tow straps ready to go for when they inevitably pull me out of something. Basically you have to hit things with speed they can crawl through (especially mud). Good tires make a big difference (my next upgrade).

4x2s belong nowhere near Lockwood Cyn/MJT...that's the 2nd time I've heard of that happening, that trail is pretty clearly marked 4x4 only at more than one point
