I guess I'm looking for an excuse to put a 3" lift on my new TRD Sport. Other than when it floods here in Houston, I really can't find a reason other than aesthetics. I don't really need a 4wd. I just like the look. Any ideas or suggestions on a decent lift kit. I've read some lift kits will mess with the ride of the truck. Or mess up the suspension. I've looked online and it's enough to turn your head inside out.

Maxtrac spindle lift. Keeps factory geometry so no need for aftermarket upper control arms.

If you do this, Chad's gonna like it!

Btw staying warm down there Chad ? My buddy was doing BBq this weekend in your neck of the woods. It was 2* here.

But back on topic. Spacers or a bilstein lift is always a good budget way to go!

Could toss some of these guys on and level it off

I personally don’t get lifting 2WD’s but each to their own, if it makes you happy then go for it. I think though that when you go to sell the truck the lift will not be a positive factor as far as resale on a 2WD.

It's probably a truck I'll be keeping for a very long time. So reselling it isn't even a consideration now.

Plus, I'm not a kid anymore. So I've got nothing to do but spend money on my toys.

Op did state that its purpose would be due to Houston flooding. I agree. I have the same truck as OP and thought about doing the same thing. I don't offroad at all, but here in Houston it floods quickly and a bit of a lift isn't bad regardless if its 2wd or 4x4.

A little something every chance we get.
Ok non lifter here, but @ChadsPride has laid it out pretty well, and I totally understand your reasoning. Don't have a 4WD truck, don't really want one, but love to watch my friends having fun with theirs. I have only a 2WD Prerunner, non TRD anything. Only want to do "trails" at most. At some point, I do want tru-track in the rears, but everyone that has lift has a little benefit that an SR5 doesn't. I would do a little lift, but only for a little safety cushion, and if I got a good lottery ticket. So, go for what you want to do!
