Are the wheel well openings on the 2wd fenders without flares (front and rear) the same size as the opening on the prerunner/4wd fenders with the flares removed? I've searched and have seen a few mentions of swapping them but no one who did it. Looking at pics of the two styles I think they're the same or close to it, but I'm looking for confirmation.

I'm looking at getting back into a Tacoma after a few years without one. My last truck was a 07 DCSB with 285/75/17 (34") that I ditched the flares on. I liked the look as I've never been a big fan of plastic flares and it reminded me of my first 4x4, a 92 Toyota truck I straight axled. My only complaint is I didn't like the holes in the fenders, or the indention at the top of the flare on the short bed. This time I want to go with a long bed, and I'm thinking I might try to find someone to trade my fenders with flares for 2wd fenders if they are pretty much the same minus holes
