Hmm, maybe it’s just studded tires that are illegal. I don’t quite understand. In any case, I’ve never seen a set of tire chains except in pictures.

And would probably still be paying for it too. I think the final out the door price after wrap, rough country lift, and roof rack was around 65k.

Because without a center differential the drive train binds when turning. This is noticable on gravel or dirt and much more noticable on pavement. Turning in 4wd on pavement will cause extra wear and or damage.

I don't disagree with you, but this is starting to mess with my thinking, esp for occasionally messing up which has been thankfully rare.

Not much better than a C8. The first couple of years they will only have the wimpy motor.... and even with the wimpy motor, that thing is a beast.

Yes, 62 mph is the suggested fastest speed for a 2HI to 4HI shift. Beyond that there is no special speed limit in 4HI.

Driving in 4wd on dry pavement puts the drivetrain in a bind. You can feel it and hear it. Just because it didn't grenade doesn't mean that it's okay to do. It's in a bind, you know it, you hear it, you feel it. It's great that it holds up, but you are putting extra stress and wear on the parts. It might not matter today, but eventually it will.

I did quality that with an 'arguably.'

I was a car nut before motorcycles set their hook. Those are still all around superior transportation in my mind. $/smiles, capability (offroading a street bike on worn street tires taught me a lot!), and all that.

The bikes, esp the last, unreliable one, pointed me firmly at the Taco.

Given that all around, I would choose that T4R.

There is goodness in the C8, and it is a bargain comparatively. That flat plane motor will be special, with a special price to go with it.

That was his whole point. He's trying to break it.

My takeaway (the next post in that thread), is that I can relax my own worries. As I noted. The rare 4Hi bind is no big deal, as is newbs learning the ropes.
