Cuttently in the process of doing a complete front end suspension rebuild on my 1st gen... but I can't seem to locate 2wd 5 lug front wheel hubs? I do see 4wd/6lugs for about $80 and I can find the bearings + race combos for both just not the whole assembly.

I did see it on Toyota's website for almost $400 EACH (before shipping), but I feel like that's just their nice way of saying repack the bearings yourself and have a nice day LOL

It’s not a simple bolt on piece & the bearing is a cartridge style bearing. you have to press the bearing cartridge out of the spindle as well as press the hub flange from the bearing.

I can provide you with the parts, a puller is available to rent at any auto parts store.

Assembly is straight forward, no press needed.

I have everything you need for the job.

It’s a generic picture, the 6 lug does not use a cartridge type bearing, it uses a tapered bearing that bolts to the spindle.
I’ve been working on Toyotas for 24 years.

    (142) Remove 5 lug Tacoma bearing, studs, and rotors. - YouTube

In these spindle hubs its just like in the 70's...
it easily comes apart......although you have to get/press the new races in ....
after getting old ones out....and that is the PIA money shot on these...hardest part..

These arent like the cartridge ones on 6 lug....
these are not sealed ...and must be repacked every few years...

After you do it a few times....you can get it down to about 20 min a side...
    but thats just to repack.......

The critical part is recinching that 30mm bolt.....better get that right....

    too loose...you'll hear rotor rub......
too tight and the bearings fail in record time.....

The outer bearing is an A-3 bearing ....$14 at autozone...
the inner one I get from napa....those premium ones are like $30....
and then the inner seal is like $10 ea side.....

I cant find the napa ones...at least the premiums......and wouldnt trust the $15 auto zone ones...must be supply chain problems.

outer one is not the one that fails....its the inner one.....
thats the one that bears the weight of the vehicle....

unless you crush em when you cinch that 30mm down....

Since you’ll be DIY, why not just re-use the wheel hub since you’ll be pressing it apart regardless. They typically don’t fail, it’s the bearing that fails. For piece of mind press new studs in and be on your way.

And yeah you just reuse the hubs....there's no reason not to....
Its just that big inner seal that needs to be replaced..

This is an open thrust bearing system and you'll have to get used to repacking the bearings every couple of years....
just like we used to do in the old days.....

4x4's have to have whole cartridge replaced....but those hold up much longer....

Secret on these 5 lugs is getting that 30mm lock nut set/tensioned right...
too tight and u crush the bearings.......too loose will give you rotor rub when cornering....
pretty much like a headset on a bike.....
worth going slow on that part.....
