I'm new to the page and looking for help. I'm looking at the billy 3" coilover lift for my taco, I'm wondering if anybody has long term experience with these lifts and would I need new control arms? Also if there are better 3" add a leaf lifts out there please let me know!

Just bought the kit, I have heard of some guys needing ucas and some guys not needing them. Safe bet is just save up for the ucas and buy them the first time. I am still waiting on mine, and just bought the ucas too.

Yea I guess the best way to put it is if you don't get ucas and can't get your truck aligned after you put he lift on your gonna be pissed. And you will be throwing away money every time you drive because your tires will be getting jacked up. Seems like the consensus opinion is just save for the ucas that way you can align the truck.

Once I got my lift I will make a build thread and take a ton of pictures when I put it on.

Bilstein 5100's w/ Eibach coil overs in front (set at 3" of lift). Front diff drop kit. Extended Bilstein 5100's in the rear. Deaver 2" AAL in rear w/ axle shims. 285 x 75 r 16 Goodyear Duratracks. Wheelers steelies type B, AFE cold air intake. Sway bar delete. All Pro Apex front bumper (rattle canned Rustoleum primer + flat black). Plasti-dipped emblems. Mud flaps removed.
It depends on how you usually use the truck. I would recommend Light Racing UCA's for light to moderate off road use. A lot of the guys around here are running them and they have good reviews. BTW I am running the Billy coilovers at 3" and have been for almost 2 years and still have the stock UCA's on with no issues yet. The guys at the shop where I take my truck for tire related stuff said that they almost couldn't get it back to spec. I will most likely be investing in some LR UCA's soon.

Also, if I want to go to a 12.5 should I get offset rims or change my steering knuckle?

I would just get the proper backspacing on your wheels. I'm running 4" backspacing but could easily get away with 4.5" too. Again, more info on what you use the truck for would be helpful.

Just reading back... You dont need to upgrade your UCA's with 3" Billies lift. I take my truck in for alignment and never have any issues with it. If you are 2wd you may also want to consider the Max Trac Spingle lift. It allows for you to keep you stock shocks and a more stock ride. If you add a bunch of preload for 3 " Billie lift you will have a stiff ride

I use the truck as a daily driver, but I also It use on trails and in mud fairly often.

Post pics when you get 'em. I've got front Billsteins set at .85". I didn't do anything to the rear lift-wise because I don't want to chance having driveline vibes.

So at what point would you need UCA's to keep caster and camber where it needs to be? I'd be curious to see your alignment printout.

Billet grill, 20% tint, 265/70/17 BF Goodrich tires, 3" smittybilt nerfs, weathertech guards, Toytec 3" lift (Bilstein 5100s front/rear, Eibach, AAL), LR UCA's
I ended up having to buy some LR UCA's for mine.

Do you think I'll have any issues fitting a 33 on a 3 inch lift

No issues, but make sure you really fill the new ball joints with grease
