If the dealer does not check, just show them this. If they still don't check, call corporate.

I know what the maintenance says it is.... I'm a service advisor, remember? Technicians rarely look at ALL fluids. Yes, they should, but they don't. It's a time and numbers game, and surveys.... I'm not saying it's right....

As a service writer, does this look like they bothered to check the ATF?

Simple answer, no. It appears they couldn't recreate your issue and didn't manually check it. My vehicle exhibited the transmission slip for the technician immediately. I would follow up with the dealership and explain to them that it is an intermittent issue (with the slipping and harsh shift) and you are requesting a manual check of the ATF fluid. If they are unwilling to help, find a different dealership.

^ Had the tsb done like yours. There should be a line stating checked transmission fluid and set to correct level. On that RO it does not say they checked the fluid level or corrected the level.

Didn't think so. Had the tech come out and had to ask multiple times about it. He even said he doesn't believe they're coming from the factory low on fluid.

Well that technician is totally out of the loop on 2016+ Tacomas coming from the factory. Worked at a toyota dealership and we got many tacomas with low transmission fluid and transmission problems.

It's not up to him to think that. It is your vehicle, with a known concern.... What are the last 6 numbers of your VIN? Lower numbers are first off the assembly line... Typically, if the number is low (especially with a new engine/transmission build) more problems are common.

Then ask him why is Toyota giving a free extended warranty to customers with low fluid.

Truthfully, you need to find a service department and advisor, for that matter, who actually cares about their customers.

Yours wasn't one of the first off the line, but it certainly isn't one of the last ones either. My master tech says typically you would desire to have a vin # number higher than 075000.

Don't they use tech stream to get the trans into fluid check mode? Once in that mode when the fluid is at the right temp they manually pull the check plug and you should have some come out.

Yes, a tech stream is used to monitor temperature. That is all.

Which is required to check the fluid properly, so to say tech stream will do nothing is very wrong.

Main thing that pisses me off is I bought a growler of locally brewed amber ale for the tech. Christmas time and hoping he might actually pay a little more attention to my truck.

What i should have said is a Techstream, by itself, will not fix anything. Thank you for correcting that.

You don´t need techstream, you can get it into and verify temp check mode with the shifter.

I know I've done it; however, it's irrelevant in this thread that is talking about a Dealer Tech performing the fluid check.
