I have a 3.4 01 DC 4x4 with a 140k . Truck had a s/c on from new to 116k. Got gas this morning ( filled up with 91) , wot this morning to pass a someone. Tack at 5500 rpm in 3rd gear climbing a hill. Once I was around them I let off the gas , truck went down to idle and then stalled . Was able to drive to work by playing with the gas and putting the trans in neutral, when costing or at a stop. This has happened before the exact same way . No codes , truck runs fine just won't idle. The only code the truck has in it sometimes is a p0420 for a bad cat due to the s/c with no fuel upgrades. That why the s/c was taken off. I had cleaned the maf sensor when it did this last time and I seemed to work, until today.

Was wondering if anyone else has experienced the type of issue with a 1st gen 3.4 tacoma . Any help is greatly appreciated. Cause right now I'm stumped.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I'm not much help but make sure the EGR Valve isn't stuck open or closed and replace cracked or brittle vacuum lines. That's all I can give Ya! Good luck!

    Sounds related to the MAF.

I left mine unplugged on accident and it did the same thing you're describing.

They arent too expensive to replace from the dealer, try cleaning it and all the electrical connections to it and see if that helps.

Do you use a K&N filter by chance cause those are terrible and are known to destroy MAF over time and foul stuff up from the oil.

I do use a drop in k&n , and lightly oil it . When I had cleaned it last I used cnc maf sensor cleaner on and I was pretty dirty. Also it has me wondering if I have an interment iac value issue. Thanks for the quick response Taco me elmo.

Replace the K&N with a stock paper filter (Napa Gold and Toyota OEM are the best.) and check all rubber lines for cracks and leaks as well as clean the throttle body and MAF then see if that fixes the issue.

If you must have an aftermarket intake drop in filter the AFE pro dry S is pretty good. No oiling required.

Any auto part store has the hoses you need for vacuum lines cheap too. if you have some that are gnarly beat up you can pop them off and take them in for a proper length measurement replacement.

I did this a few years ago to a few of mine including all 3 that are intake related, the fat one behind the throttle body, skinny one to the intake and medium size to brake booster area.

I would even go so far as taking all of the intake box and hose off the truck and clean the hell out of it in a large sink or tub if you have the time, clean out any residue that you wouldn't normally think about.

Thats what I would do if it was mine.
