I was out wheeling this past weekend and when wrapping up a trail, the truck just died suddenly. It'll start up for a few seconds, but runs rough and then dies again. No check engine light or pending codes. Battery is fine (I was able to winch the truck onto the trailer). Fuel pressure is 40psi so that rules out fuel pump, i think (my first thought). Any ideas on some steps to troubleshoot?

Specs. 2002 Tacoma SAS 3.4. Battery relocated to bed. URD o2 simulator (i tried disconnecting this already without any improvement).

Bad spark? If you have spark, fuel, and compression it will run....has no choice lol

We may have a winner. Thanks to some advice on the TTORA facebook, I unplugged the MAF and it started and ran after two attempts. Plugged the MAF back in and it immediately died. I'll try cleaning it. Otherwise, I think I have a spare somewhere.

need to verify it first. I've never heard of a MAF suddenly dying without a CEL or soemthing first.

the maf is tied into so many systems, unplugging it may have just led the computer to bypass certain sensors. I'll confirm in the AM.

Try the emergency fuel shut off switch, I hit a bump in the road kind of hard, not as hard as when I jump, but that’s besides the point anyway, after I hit the bump I noticed loss of power, and shortly after the engine died, the truck would start up, but die about 2-3 seconds later, on my 03 it was under the steering wheel area, after you hit that switch you should be fine, and if it dies again it might be flooded, so start it up again, and rev it instantly and if it doesn’t die, keep the rpms up, I’d say 5-10 seconds and you should be good, that’s how it went for me.

So the issue is that your air intake hose came loose?
