Been doing the heavy maintenance on my truck. Got to the point where I need to track down parts as soon as I finish cleaning the old junk off. Found valve cover bolts barely tight. Talking about twist out with two fingers. Wondering what particular options of knock sensors are best. I know some parts are better quality or better made to some perspectives. I would gladly take direction if anyone is willing to help out. Thinking of freshening up injectors while I have the engine at this point too. Critics welcome.... Valve cover gaskets will be replaced. Anything I should address while I am here?20220508_195150.jpg

If asking if I want to keep oem, that would be a yes. No need to make more power or hop up.

Why replace the knock sensors? They are very expensive and seem to last forever. Might be a good idea to replace the harness.
Also , I removed the coolant bypass tube and cleaned, resealed the joint because that can cause a leak. The sealant price is absurd at $60 and you only need a smidgen but most people say FIPG is OK if you have it.

The coolant tube mating surface on the block was rusty so I sanded it with some 400 grit to get down to clean metal.

I think most important items are all the rubber coolant hoses and vacuum lines at the back of the engine, Hard to get to with engine assembled.
My 20 year old coolant lines actually looked pretty good but cheap insurance to replace and some of these items may be discontinued in the future - the evaporator vacuum lines are already discontinued.

Also, injectors seem to very durable as long as no bad gas mishaps. You could send them in for cleaning though, I sent mine in at about 200k miles and the before and after cleaning flow rates barely changed.

Engine internals and sensors, I would always tend towards genuine OEM. Far too many counterfeits or just cheap "oem equivalents" out there...

But as others said, is there a reason for wanting to replace that sensor? Were you throwing a code? If not, I might just leave it. But do whatever gives you piece of mind.

Yeah, send it on the injectors (MotorWest Denso replacements, or send them your current set and get them cleaned)- You're already there. Bench test your knock sensors before replacing them.

I second replacing all the vacuum lines while you're there. There are a few which are to access (under the main wire loom) that you have easy access to at the moment.

Thanks for all the input. Replaced the lot, just for good measure. Seals and all. Plug tube seals, Valve cover seals and the list goes on. Cleaned up nice. Will keep yall posted on anything new. Had a P0172 come up, think I had a few loose hoses on initial start up. Checked everything and replaced the little fuel regulator vac line and seems to be gone.
