I look at it this way:
It's a great little engine and it does everything it needs to. When it dies though (or needs a large repair done), I will use it as an excuse for this.

    150k should be just fine.

In regards to rake, am I the only one here who likes a small amount of it? I think the front being higher than the back looks derp-ilicious.....

I was wondering the same thing actually. Good to know that my V6 has some time left. It's a 1996 and I just turned over 83,000 today. Hoping to keep her for a long long time!:)

I'm @ 60K and have had some Power Steering issues and have a lower ball joint to replace. I intent on keeping this truck until retirement 13 1/2 years. It's the dependability of these little trucks is why I went with a 1st gen.

my 2001 has just under 280,000 miles on it...

i take it through its paces with some pretty hard offroading at least once or twice a month...

runs really strong... been running synthetic oil since i drove it off the lot brand new...

I just bought my 03 double cab with 148,000 on it. I made sure that it had been well maintained. Other than regular maintenance, I wasn't worried at all about the actual mileage.

My 2001 just rolled over 140k on my last road trip. Depending on where you live, the frame will give way before your engine. I've been in DC for 3 years and am worried about my frame. I have to go to ND next (2 years) and hope it'll last. If not I might have to do a rebuild. Like you, I love my truck.

    I am original owner of 1999 3.4 Tacoma trd 4x4. 235,000 miles.

Normal maintenance stuff, timing belts, water pumps, spark plugs, oil changes. Started leaking oil after 200,000. Had new gaskets put in at 234,000. It still runs strong as ever.

Was getting 19.5 mpg. Until recently. Put full OME suspension with some TRD black beadlock wheels and BFG ATs. Added Shrockworks bumper and ARE camper shell. Mileage on last two tanks of gas dropped to 16 mpg. Hoping it is the extra weight and not the new gaskets affecting my mileage. Any thoughts from the forum members?

well...hmm. i get 15 mpg on my stock 3.4...it doesn't really bother me though because i drive so little that i get 2 weeks out of a tank. makes me wonder how it will do once i lift...

It is probably the extra weight and the tires. i was getting 20mpg before switching out to slightly taller tires on the stock steel rims. now I average 17.5mpg.

Oh .... I know my engine will last a long time. Now I am just scared about the frame.

The weight and tires are what changed your mpgs. Lift has a minor effect on mpg compared to them
