Thanks for the feedback! I will definitely be switching to the OEM filters next oil change.

Toyota OEM oil filter and 5.5-6 quarts of Rotella 5w-40 diesel oil and change it every 7k-10k miles. been doing this for over 50k miles no issue.

Thanks for the heads up. I guess I have some research to do on filters... I've heard a lot of good and bad things from people about Fram.

Nothing quite like a 5 year old thread resurrection... lol
just to put in my .02, I always do the OEM filter and put in 5.5 qts, keep the extra .5 and then the next time u just gotta buy a 5 qt bottle. and only ONE time did i ever change the oil without changing the filter. was extra lazy that day and had to do both the Camry and Tacoma haha

Nonsense. I've always used standard Fram filters on my '96 and I have 414,000 trouble-free miles on it. Never had a cover off.

Besides sold hundreds of thousands of Fram, Wix and AC filters in my auto parts stores over the years to shops, car dealers, fleets and DYIs and never had an issue with any of them.

Resurrect? Hahahah! My Tacoma is 240k. Always Quaker State and Fram from Walmart. I was mad they only offer synthetic blend. Scam to make more money. But alas it’s a little better I guess. Whatever.

Oh - 2000 3.4 manual 4x4. Love my baby. Everyone wants to buy it and it will never be for sale. I consider it half life at 240k hahaha

Six quarts gets me exactly to the top dot on the dipstick with this extended filter.

To those that are adding that extra .5 quart. Are you doing this practice with your transfer case and diffs as well?

My tacoma takes 6 qts and it has the oil cooler. My 3.4 swapped 4runner takes 5.5 and doesn't have the oil cooler.
