3.4L Oil Leak

I got under the truck today and did a little more looking, I think it's definitely leaking from the back of the valve covers and from the rear cam plugs. I'm not sure it's solely that but I'll look into getting VC gasket done in the near future.

 

Never had one leak before, but I have mine changed at each clutch job which seams to be at 250k.

 

Get a can of brake cleaner with the spray tube and a rag and you can clean all around the back of the valve covers and every where too

 

you have the rear main seal change during the clutch job?

this must be a problem for trucks with the AT

 

No it's not, AT tacos don't have to ever worry about clutch jobs

 

Here's a picture of the engine back side.

Though I had a shop leave the full moon retaining bracket off and the full moon popped out.

I would get a mechanics mirror and check out the back side of the valve cover area.

 

The seal is not a problem, your in there for a clutch job and the seal cost 20.00 or so, so why would you not replace it unless you are a gambler. Just like the timing belt, you don’t have to replace the seals, the pulley, the water pump, the tensioner but you would be silly not to because the cost to replace it later if something happened
